Our picturesque property and thoughtfully restored barn are available seasonally for weddings and private events up to 100 guests June through October. We are now accepting requests for 2020 and 2021 and dates are limited.
Rooted Farmstead provides a secluded, natural backdrop for celebrating Love, Family, Friends and Community. Located just 20 miles from The Pennsylvania State University, the property is situated on 14 acres in Bellefonte surrounded by stunning views of active farm fields and rolling woodlands.
Dating back to 1887, the Barn at Rooted Farmstead is a specimen Pennsylvania Bank Barn that has been carefully restored in a manner which showcases the era’s craftsmanship and our local agricultural heritage, providing a beautiful space for private functions.
At Rooted Farmstead we only book one wedding per weekend, providing a relaxed timeline for your event including the evening prior to set up and until noon on Sunday to clean up.
Pricing starts at $4,000 which includes:
Use of the 2,400 square foot barn
Access to the property the evening before and morning after the event
Dedicated space and electric for a portable restroom unit (The restroom units are the responsibility of the couple)

How many people can your venue accommodate? The Barn comfortably accommodates 100 guests, leaving ample room for dancing, entertainment, food service and more. How much do you charge per person? We don’t! We have simple inclusive pricing so everything that we have to offer, including our tables, linens and decorations are available for your use, at no additional charge. Providing all of these extras, at no additional cost saves you over $2,800 in rental fees for comparable items from local party and vintage rental suppliers! What is included? When you book, you have the venue from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM the evening prior for set up. You have the venue for 10 hours the day of your event starting at 12:00 PM. Events must conclude by 9:00 PM and all guests and vendors must leave the property by 10:00 PM. You may return the following day from 10:00 AM thru 12:00 PM for final cleanup. Are any decorations included in your pricing? Yes! We provide a large collection of decorations to help you save time and money including tables, decor, linens, floral arrangement supplies, lanterns, signage and battery-operated candles. We do not have chairs available. You may bring your own decorations, we only ask that you do not nail into the walls, or do anything that will leave permanent marks. Can we hold our ceremony on site as well? Yes! There are various areas on the property ideal for an outdoor ceremony, or you may elect to hold your ceremony in the barn. Our rental includes additional time the evening before your event to host your Rehearsal, if desired. How many events do you host a day? One! When you book your day, it is your day only. We only host one event per weekend. Do you require couples use specific vendors? No! You are allowed to use any vendor you wish as long as they are adequately insured and licensed and proof of such is provided in accordance with the Rental Agreement. We highly recommend the services of a professional event coordinator to ensure your event runs smoothly, as we simply provide the space for celebration. We also strongly recommend making group transportation services available to your guests. Does Rooted Farmstead provide restroom facilities? No. Portable restroom facilities are the responsibility of the renters. Does your facility have water and/or a kitchen facility? No, the Barn does not have a kitchen facility nor potable water. Your caterer and bartender will be required to bring their own potable water, ice and means for keeping food and beverages at appropriate temperatures. Food trucks and BBQ-style caterers are ideal. Do you offer a bridal suite or place where we can get dressed on-site? No; however, there are a number of local hotels and bed and breakfasts which can fill this need. What if it rains? We recommend to make arrangements for a tent as backup or prepare a plan to transition the Barn from ceremony to reception. What is the deposit for booking a date? A Security Deposit of $500 and signed Rental Agreement is required in order to hold your date. Fifty (50%) of the Rental Fee must be received no later than 180 days prior to the scheduled event. The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to the scheduled date. What are your venue rules? We deeply care about the safety of our guests and the community along with following all local, state and federal laws. Therefore, here are some very important rules that you must abide by:
Absolutely no smoking, open flames, sparklers, lantern send-offs, candles, or heaters of any kind in or around the Barn and any other structures.
Alcohol can only be served by a properly certified and insured bartender. Guests are not permitted to serve themselves at any time.
You must obtain an event insurance policy
Each vendor must carry their own liability insurance.
The maximum capacity of the barn, including guests and vendors, is 146.
Events must conclude no later than 9:00 PM and all guests and vendors must leave the property by 10:00 PM.
You are liable for any damage or theft by your guests.
Renters, guests and vendors assume all risk traversing on Ridge Farm Road and within the property.
